OUR BODY TALKS

The idea behind the name;  The Talking Body Clinic.

You ARE truly unique, in the literal sense that whatever you have gone through to get you this far in life, each step, each leap, each boundary needing faced, each moment has been yours and only yours. This can also be applied to our bodies – no two sides of one body are ever completely symmetrical, and each part requires attentive care to be understood better.

We as humans are habitual creatures, creating repetitive structural and behavioural tendencies that our bodies have no other option than take on board. To say the body had “muscle memory” would be anatomically incorrect, however like learning to play an instrument the body, with repetition (or “practice”), will eventually define these movements as natural and/ or habitual.

All bodies have their own methods of reaching out to ask for help. Too much habitualness on specific parts of our anatomy can lead to chronic injuries, numbness or pain from repetitive strain. We often lack an inward focus or awareness to our physical selves due to compensation for our daily lives, so much so our bodies eventually do the talking for us by drawing attention to the neglected or over-worked areas.

The body is readable just like a book. And who doesn’t enjoy a good book? Yours carries the entire story that is you, all the good and challenging bits. Using techniques such as myofascial release and deep tissue therapy, we can start to accept – acknowledge – and release – the traumas, tensions and tires of the physical self – and perhaps with further will to investigate – those of the mind too.

AMIRA KREMERS

They/Them. I am a multi-disiplinary yoga instructor, bodyworker, Consensual Touch and Intimacy coach, and a Somatic Sexologist with an immense passion to get you to empower yourself in as many ways as possible. I qualified as a Certified Forrest Yoga Instructor after taking the 28 day training with Ana Forrest and her team in August 2014 (RYT-200). Being a former ballet and contemporary dancer (BA Hons Scottish School Contemporary Dance 2012) and having gone through several serious dance-related injuries, I wanted to give to the world the same healing and nourishing practice that has strengthened and helped my body and mind.

With a lot of extensive training on biomechanics and anatomical studies, I devoted my focus predominately on the prevention, rehabilitation and understanding of hypermobility within movement. My classes are all lead with the integration of mind, body and breath in a step by step way which can be adapted to all levels.

Being introduced at several establishments throughout Scotland and Britain, and opening a loving studio located in Limassol, Cyprus has allowed me to gain an invaluable amount of work experience in both teaching and bodywork. But as the saying goes, once a teacher always a student; the desire to broaden my skills is a forever flowing constant; hence the pull towards Sexological Bodywork. With every body being a different roller-coaster ride there can be no end to the thrill and love for the work I do. Even after a decade and several hundreds of hours of therapeutic work with clients, there is a great need to gain and give knowledge.

Please get in touch or use the website for booking availability. To get started I recommend booking a bodywork consultation. I also offer various types of bodywork and yoga sessions both virtually and in person for private and corporate clientèle.

TESTIMONIALS

As a health therapist of 31 years experience it takes a lot to gain my admiration and trust but Amira did that during my 1st session with her. I’ve just finished a course of 3 sessions and I’m very impressed with what she has discovered about my body. My body feels so much better top to toe. Amira is a genuine, lovely, caring person who now has a regular client for as long as she’ll have me. Thank you Amira!

She is awesome and the best I’ve ever had! And so affordable it’s insane! She'll read your body like a book, will tell if you’re dehydrated or stressed or sitting with one leg over the other... You really can’t hide from her! Amira knows exactly where and how to apply pressure. I feel amazing after every session. She is truly gifted and I trust her fully with my body.

I've had the pleasure to allow Amira to work on me 3 times now, each time better and more revealing than the last! She is simply amazing! With extensive knowledge about the body and a hunger to always reinvent her craft she manages to give the best massages, going deep and even reaching an emotional level if need may be. Can't wait for the next one!

ABOUT FORREST YOGA

Forrest Yoga is not practised amongst the trees, it gets its name from its creatrix Ana Forrest (although there are no rules against practising in nature). Like all yoga, Forrest is a practise of intense presence in the body, achieved through breathing techniques and mindful movement. However, there are some critical differences between traditional yoga and the modern style that Ana created. After a lifetime of practicing ancient yogic traditions Ana designed a practise for modern bodies being bombarded by pressures of modern life. Sadly, it has become completely normal for us to be sedentary and stressed out, eat processed food rather than fresh nutritious ingredients, drive, sit at desks, and spend hours on screens. This is not an exhaustive list, but all these things contribute to disease of the body and mind and are not conducive to us being the best version of ourselves.

Forrest Yoga is renowned as an intensely physical and internally focused practice that emphasizes how to carry a transformative experience off the mat and into daily life. The practice challenges students to access their whole being and to use Forrest Yoga as a path to finding and then cleansing the emotional and mental blocks that dictate and limit their lives. Students cultivate an acute awareness of their own practice and life process, creating a unique and powerful opportunity for them to make practical life decisions based on their own experiences.
Forrest Yoga does not require strength or flexibility; it only requires a willingness to learn how to feel authentically and respond honestly. The practice is founded on four pillars – Breath, Strength, Integrity and Spirit.

The most important part of the practise is breath. Learning to breathe effectively and in a way that nourishes is one of the best gifts you will ever receive. Through Ujjayi breath and pranayama, we regulate the nervous system and slow down both body and mind. A Forrest class always involves some aspects of core strengthening. This is done in a mindful, methodical way with a view to protecting against and/or back pain and promote balance. When we learn to use our core to hold us, we can begin to release some of the tension from the neck and shoulders and so always work with a relaxed neck. We hold poses for long enough to become present and grounded throughout the entire body. This empowers us to move our bodies intelligently, looking inward at habitual patterns and places we hold emotion in the body. Forrest yoga classes are expertly sequenced to create space and strengthen targeted areas of the body. Being flexible, fit, or strong is not necessary and therefore classes are accessible to everyone. Over time, with a committed practice, you will notice changes in your mental and physical body.

Each class is a tailored training programme: Whether you are working toward landing specific asanas, getting deeper into strength and flexibility training, rehabilitating an injury or just want a one-on-one practice, private yoga sessions offer an opportunity to address individual needs and allows you to progress at your pace.
Please note mothers-to-be are most welcome to partake in any class and given cues will be modified accordingly, so long as you are past the first trimester of your pregnancy and have previously practiced yoga.
